It should also be noted that Anthony studied art with another famous African American, Edward Clark at the Academy de La Grand Chaumiere in Paris.

 

His bio is listed below:

 

VLAHAKIS--Anthony, 82, died on December 18, 2008 at his home in Central FL after a long illness. He was a prior resident of NYC where he worked as an artist and designer. Tony joined the U.S. Marines in 1943. He saw active duty in Saipan and Okinawa and received an honorable discharge in 1945. He attended The University of Mexico, The Arts Students League in New York and the Academy de la Grand Chaumiere in Paris. He was a multi-lingual world traveler, a strong supporter for human rights and social justice and the autistic community. He is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Attorney Marie Pellegrini Vlahakis as well as a brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews in the United States and Europe.
